The three turning points are:

-The first turning point is when the first lady got killed by the shark.

-The second turning point is when some fishermen went and ended up catching a shark but the wrong one.

-The third turning point is when the scientist decides to go after the shark himself.

This type of movie is meant to be a thriller. The type of conventions I would have expected from it was, a lot of blood, scary scenes, killing etc…

I find this movie met the conventions extremely well, there were lots of bloody scenes and lots of scary scenes that make you jump off your seat. It also had lots of suspense which is excellent in a triller movie!

The director also did an excellent job with the music. And not really showing the shark in the first half of the movie(even if it wasn’t purposely done).

I would recommend this movie to kids from the ages of 13- any type of adult that doesn’t mind a little bit of suspense and blood!

Point Break

The five turning points:

- Johnny finds out the robbers are surfers.

- Johnny meets a girl named Taylor and she teaches him how to surf

-Johnny and the police find a gang but not the one they’re looking for

- Johnny girlfriend gets kidnapped.

- Johnny saves the girl and gets the guy.

Point Break is an action movie. Therefore certain conventions we expect from a movie like this are explosions, firearms, fighting, etc…

Point Break does meet the requirements of a action movie. There are fighting scenes, car chases, but not as much you expect to see in a action movie.

Personally i love action movie! I love full force action non stop action movies, but to be honest i was really not impressed with this movie, it had little amount of action scenes and even at the the action scenes weren’t mouth dropping…

I don’t find the acting was too good, Keeanu Reeves was i find terrible, i don’t really watch action movies with Keeanu Reeves in them but i hope he doesn’t act like that in other movie! I think i would be able to act exactly like him. I found Patrick Swayze played pretty good, he played his roles like a really action movie.

I would recommend this movie to anyone older than 13years of ages because there are some mature scenes. Overall it was a okay movie.

The Program

The Five Turning Points:

- The first turning point is when Joe Kane gets nominated for the Heisman Cup.

- The second turning point is when Joe Kane meets Camille.

- The third turning point is when Joe Kane and his team lose the football game against one of there big competitors.
- The fourth turning point is when Joe Kane gets caught drunk driving and has to go to rehab and pretty much looses his chance to get the Heisman.
- And finally the fifth turning point is when Joe Kane wins the final football game of the season and gets Camille.

Conventions of this Genre:

The Program is a sports movie on football. In a football type of movie you usually expect lots of football to be played, sometimes maybe a little love story and 99% of the time its usually focused on one character and that character has to reach his goal of the year, so what can happen is the character reaches his goal or what usually happens is the character gets injured and comes back from an injury and achieves his goal.

How did the movie meet or contridict the conventions?

I find The Program was a great example of a sports film. It met pretty much all the conventions of a sports genre movie. You had the little love story, you had the big amount of sports playing and you had the big injury to the sports player. And it wasn’t boring it kept you wanting to watch and watch and see what would happen.

In my opinion i found The Program was a great movie, i usually really like football movies and i could add this one to one of my favorites. The story was great not only for Joe Kane but for the other couple of actors we followed. The movie was a little too predictable but other than that it was a fantastic movie.

I would recommend this movie to anyone from teenagers to adults, i say not really for younger kids because there are some mature scenes and not for old people because there are some scenes they might not like.

Along Came Polly

The five Turning points:

-The first turning point is when Reuben and his wife Lisa go on their hunnymoon and she cheats on him.

- The second turning point is when Reuben meets his old friend Polly Prince.

-The third turning point is when Polly and Reuben start seeing/ dating eachother.

- The forth turning point is when Lisa shows up to Reubens house and tells him she wants him back, he rejects her and says he wants Polly.

- And the fifth turning point is when Polly sees Reuben compared herself and Lisa in the risk tester.

Conventions of this Genre:

Along came polly is a romantic comedey, in romantic comedey movie the things we usally expect to happen is a brake up between a couple and then either the man or women finds a other sole mate. Or another thing that could happen in a romantic comedey is a couple get into a huge argument and you think they will never get back together but slowly slowly they do end up getting back together. In a romantic comedey another thing we exprect it to have are funny actors and lots of funny scenes.

How did the movie meet or contridict the conventions?

I find along came polly is a great example of a great romantic comedey. A husband and wife did break up and the man did meet his dream girl that used to come to his high school. And that what we usually expect to happen on a romantic comedey, it was also an extremely funny movie.

In my opinion i found it was an excellent movie! The story was really good and funny. I really liked the main characters. I found all the characters in the movie played their role to almost perfection. Also i find the director did a great job too. He made the story fit right into the genre of the movie. And he picked the perfect characters to do it. I also say the director did a great job because he obviously made money. The thing i didn’t really like about the movie is i found it alittle too predictable. Other than that it was a really good romantic comedey movie! I would recommend this movie to anyone from teenagers to adultes, i say not really for younger kids because there are some matture scenes and not for old people because there are some scenes they might not like.

Log Line:

What if someone was to find a briefcase containing top-secret information.

Treatment: In this movie a dirty F.B.I agent and his dirty partner lose their briefcase leading to all the illegal actions they’ve committed. They find out some guy had found the briefcase and wants to turn the two dirty F.B.I agents in! But it wont be as easy as it sounds. Does he really know what he’s getting himself in to?

Stage 1: At the beginning of the movie you see the two F.B.I agents braking lots of laws. Just doing the job of a dirty cop.

Turning Point 1: While meeting up with some mafia leader,Cecilia ( Natalie Martinez) and her partner Jonathan ( Bruce Willis) forget the briefcase at the loading docks where they had met their client.

Stage 2: Adam, a worker working at the docks find this briefcase

Turning Point 2: Adam finishes his shift, he still doesn’t tell anyone about this briefcase and decides to bring it home and open it. When he opens it he realizes its belonged to dirty cops.

Stage 3: Cecilia and Jonathan think they miss placed the briefcase but then figure out they forgot it at the loading docks. They rush over and see it is not there. Jonathan breaks into the surveillance camera room and sees who took it.

Turning Point 3: They start the hunt to try to find Adam and their briefcase.

Stage 4: Adam decides he wants to try to turn the two dirty F.B.I agents in.

Turning Point 4: While Adam is about to walk out of his house the two dirty Agents walk up to his door. He runs to the back of his house and tries to escape by the back door.

Stage 5: The two Agents chase Adam into his backyard and catch him. Cecilia and Jonathan bring Adam into this dark warehouse, but no briefcase in sight.

Stage 6: Adam said he has their briefcase hidden and will not give it back to them. He then is able to escape from the warehouse and take off with one of their cars.

Turning Point 6: The two Agents chase Adam through the streets of New York City. It leads into a foot race to the subway and Adam is able to get there safe.

Stage 7: He’s able to get to the Police station and explain everything to an Officer.

Turning Point 7: The officer pretends to be typing everything into the Police system but is really texting Jonathan.

Stage 8: The Officer takes the briefcase and tells Adam he better skip town and forget about everything if he knows whats good for him.

Turning Point 8: Adam doesn’t understand but then realizes he is working for the other two dirty Agents.

We need $75 million for many reasons. First, lots of our budget will go towards explosions and special effects. In our movie we have lots of action scenes, like explosions and high speed chases. We will be using lots of special effects on those scenes too.

We think our movie will make money because there are many good actors and the story will attract many teenagers and thats the audience you need to attract because they’re the ones that will give you money!

Case Study Three

In the third case study, it talks about a grade 9 boy, named Jared get called down to the princicpals office Monday morning. Jared was at a party over the weekend and someone took a picture using a phone and posted the picture on a photo-sharing site captioned with “Jared gets his drunk on.”Other people in the party photos are clearly drinking beer, so when the principal saw the photos he decided to suspend everyone in them that he recognized. He also decided to take Jared off the Student Council for setting a bad example.

Jared objects to this: there’s no proof that he was drinking in the photo, and he didn’t write the caption. Besides, what he does outside of school shouldn’t affect his school life. The principal points out that teachers are expected to behave themselves outside of school, so it’s fair to hold students to the same standard.

Jared couldn’t remove the image from the site because it was posted anonymously. His mother makes him call everyone thats at the party to see who put the picture up, he finaly found the person who posted it his friend Mark posted it and he said he will take it down.

Now when his mom searches his sons name on Google, the image doesn’t appear but when you go under image the picture is still there with the caption!

This case study, just like the other two are relavent in my life, this one is relavent because i am about a year older than Jared and yes we go to parties, i’m not saying it is relavent for the same reason but when we are out anything can happended and it can be captured with a phone, so whenever i go out i always think about that even before i read this case study. You never know who’s watching you every move.

Case Study Two

In the second case study, there is a grade 12 girl named Jillian, shes says, much of her time is taken up by her classes, extra-curricular activities, etc… that she just doesn’t have time to set foot in a mall or a store. Jillian does most of her shopping online, plus she finds it extremely convenient! She can order clothes, cosmetics and especially books. In fact, every time she goes to Congo.com they have a page of recommended books for her. She’s impressed by how good their recommendations have been, and they just seem to get more accurate the more books she buys. On her spare time Jillian loves to read cheesy magazines, she found a cheap subscription to it on Congo.com, and she’s signed up to be able to read more for free online. The only problem is that lately she’s started getting all kinds of junk mail, both spam and postal mail. She’s even getting telemarketing calls at home, and spam text messages on her cell phone! Her mom says the magazine publisher probably sold her name to other companies.

Jillian has been seeing advertising that are in her total interest. As an experiment, she decides to add “Skateboarding” to her list of hobbies on her social networking profile. Sure enough, within hours she’s seeing ads for skate magazines on the Web sites she visits. On Congo.com it does say they wont give any person information out if you don’t want them to, but it doesn’t ask you if you don’t want them to, you have to let them know. She also worries because she starts seeing her younger sister starts signing up for online sites at a younger age.

I do find this case pretty serious because we are talking about private information, like her adress, phone number, etc…

This case does seem relavent to me because i do use a lot of website and sign up to a lot of sites, but the only difference between myself and Jillian is i always read the small print, and if i have to send some emails to the company to protect my information i would. If i was in her shoes now i would call the Congo and try to get my information secured.

Case Study One

In the first case study, it talks about a school that decides to put cameras all over the school. Rick, a student attending the school notices all the cameras around, he descides to go out into the public and starts seings more and more cameras all over the place! He sees them in buses, subways, and also outdoor public areas. Rick, starts to notice all of the other cameras in public places. Nearly every store he goes into, and all the corridors at the mall, have security cameras; cameras on the road; police cars have dashboard cameras that film everything in front of their cars. He thinks about photos he’s posted to Facebook, and about the webcam he has in his room: is he sure he knows where those pictures go?

What kind of privacy do people have anymore?

There are people who like the system of using cameras for their safety but there are also some who think it’s an invasion of their privacy.

This case does seem relavent to my life because we live in the 21st century and we are surrounded by technologie and there are many cameras around the world to protect us from all the bad that can happened. I find it great to have cameras because it protects ourself and our family. i don’t find it an invasion of privacy, because if im in the open i should’nt have anything to hide, if i decide to become a member on facebook, i know the consequence of my photo’s being all over the interenet, so i know not to put anything i don’t want curtain people to see.

Hey Guys,

For this weeks blog i will be blogging about “How social media could impact your own life in the future”. The video we watched from TED talks was a good video, it was very interesting. It’s crazy how things get around so fast today. With the internet, we don’t need to watch the news or even listen to the radio, with a couple of clicks on the computer you can access much more in 5 minutes than a whole hour watching the news!

The earthquake story was incredible, it’s amazing how fast the story got leaked on the web in matter of minutes, billions of people had a chance to see it. In the video they mentioned the last time China had an earthquake of that magnitude it took them 3 months just to admit it had happened!

I really think social media will affect me in the future. I have a feeling in the future they will get rid of the news on the t.v because everyone will just check it on the internet, if you think of it, it takes half the time on the internet and not only do you see whats going on in the world but your able to see different peoples opinions! I find the internet is the fastest way to communicate between people, with websites such as Facebook and Twitter your able to not only communicate with people in your neighborhood but with people in different countries!

Anyways guys that’s what i think about how social media can impact my life.
